*** Advisory Board Member ***The current Forum Categories are: Advice and Tips, Help Wanted and Classifieds, and Event Listings. Would you like to see other categories added?
Some ideas I've heard are:
Women's Issues
Organic Food
Love/Relationships
Environment
Sustainable Communities
Astrology
Spiritual Film
Any thoughts on those listed above, or other categories you'd like to see?

*** Advisory Board Member ***Those are good ideas. Thanks for your feedback.
The strategy of having more specific groups right off the bat is worth considering as well...alternatively some say that it's best to branch out one step at a time, so that the traffic doesn't get too thin in any one category. Now that we are starting the Notification system, maybe specific categories are ok. Do you have any ideas as to the pacing?
In the meantime, as far as fire ceremonies and gatherings, it would be great if you could post those in the Events Category. That's a section that is starting off with a bit more traffic than the others ones. I've love to see that continue.

For now I would concentrate on keeping what exists current!
The Events page has 2 pages with postings older than May 2009!
It would be great to see 1 month ahead... deleting expired posts weekly!
Create specific threads within Events - Reiki, Nutrition, Women's Spirit, Men's Spirit, New Moon/Full Moon Gatherings, etc.... the site should establish the first step of a path and allow spirit to take over.
If God is OK with churches closing, we can be OK with threads that don't flourish! The Advice/Tips page is too broad a subject! Creating that kind of thread for each "subject" page makes more sense.
Help Wanted/Classifieds should be 2 different "subjects". Change Help Wanted to "Employment/Interships" and Classifieds to "Get it here".
Establish srtict posting rules for each!!! Not "buyer beware" but "we have standards for your protection!" -

When you mentioned threads, I was originally thinking you meant categories or sub-categories. But threads is the right term and I see what you mean now...that is an excellent idea, and may help with the evolution of the forums.
I could create threads instead of sub-categories and then see what individual themes take off. We are trying different things out...so I'll play with that right now. You'll see some changes shortly. Keep up with the feedback! Thanks -

*** Advisory Board Member ***I am experimenting today with a few different structures. The subject lines and comments need a lot of work, but I'm curious mainly about opinions on the way these things are structured:
1) ADVICE/TIPS
No subcategories, but added threads to spur discussion of a few different topics.2) HELP WANTED/CLASSIFIEDS
Added 2 sub-categories. In the classfieds one, I added threads.3) EVENTS/LISTINGS
I added a sub-category for past events, but left threads for specific events in the main EVENTS/LISTINGS category.Sticky means that those threads stay on top. I don't like that term, but I can't change it right away.
Any feedback, especially on the setup overall?

Could we have a section for Services for Veterans? There are more and more people interested in this, and offering services. I'm working with a small nonprofit called The Veterans Connexion, which is creating a network to connect veterans with free alternative sessions. I'd like to see more people drawn into this, if possible. The veterans have all been affected by their experiences. Alternative healing work could help them. And we know how to do it. We could help them find their way home to their communities again. Seems a perfect fit to me. Lisa Hall

Hi Johnathon and Amy,
I'm liking the new set-up!
Question:
Does the word [STICKY] have to be displayed?
If you can loose it... I would.
Not everybody is "Hip to the Lingo" and may be leary of using it fearing it will Stick" to them!!
(inability to 'unsubscribe' or delete or just not be anonymous)I still recomend specific catagories in the EVENTS section!
The titles people tend to use require clicking into each one - NOT user friendly and will cause peolpe to give up and go away!Simple like - Classes, Weekends & Retreats, Reiki Share (thread) and the like!
Question:
The "Archive" Event section who does it serve, how and why? It's coming along very well.
Check out my posts and see if the content is what you would expect based on the Category! (feed back welcomed!)Check out my website and let me know what you think!
